SITE area representatives be included in advisory groupMay 30, 2013
KARACHI: Employers’ Federation of Pakistan in collaboration with GIZ the German Organization for International Cooperation organized “Sensitization Session on Involving Industry in Technical & Vocational Education & Training TVET at SITE Association of Industry, Karachi, wherein Dr Qazi Ahmed Kamal, Vice Chairman, SITE Association of Industry was the chief guest.
KM Nauman, President Employers’ Federation of Pakistan, welcomed all the guests and briefed about the importance of TVET in today’s era. He also informed the audience about Employer of the Year Award 2012, which will be held in August, 2013. Mohammad Ali, Communication Manager, GIZ informed the participants about the five years TVET Reform Support Programme which is financially supported by Dutch and German Govt.
He explained about the key challenges in TVET, Labour Market. Ms Rehana Kausar, Deputy Director, NAVTTC, Islamabad gave a presentation on initiatives of NAVTTC for improvement of private sector in TVET. Also present as a speaker was Mr. Abdul Hafeez Abbasi, Deputy Director, NAVTTC, Islamabad who gave a brief introduction about NAVTTC and Employers’ role in TVET. He further explained about National Vocational Qualification Framework and their levels. Nawaz Ali Zardari, Director from NAVTTC, Islamabad informed audience about the role of private sector in improving TVET on national and provisional level.
Nazar Ali, Director, STEVTA explained that why technical education and vocational training is important for industrial growth and strengthening of labour work force. He further clarified about the initiatives that are taken to involve industries in TVET Reform Support Programme.
Dr Qazi Ahmed Kamal, Vice Chairman, SITE Association of Industry, expressed that SITE Association of Industry is the 1st industrial area setup in Pakistan for the promotion of business and has become competitive and to be competitive they need to adopt strategies and policies which will help in more production and quality.
He pointed out that one of the areas in which SITE Association of Industry have more attention is the employment of better skilled force and introducing Apprenticeship Schemes Enterprises. He requested all the members of SITE Association of Industry to implement TVET strategies and policies in their organizations. He also suggested that representatives of SITE area be included on Industrial Advisory Group as well as on the Think Tanks of the concerned institutions. The seminar ended with a vote of thanks and a crest was given by KM Nauman, President, Employers’ Federation of Pakistan to Dr Qazi Ahmed Kamal, Vice Chairman, SITE Association of Industry.
