Sports: Cricket: Former, current stars set to feature in Independence Day T20 match

Karachi: Pakistan’s former and current star cricketers will feature in Independence Day T20 Festival Match here at Moin Khan Cricket Academy on the eve of Independence Day.

Customs Cricket Academy is organizing the high voltage match under the banner ‘Customs Peace Cup’ on the night of August 13.

The match will be played between Pakistan Stars XI and Pakistan Customs XI.

Former greats Moin Khan, Inzimamul Haq and Rashid Latif will also be seen in action during the match.

Pakistan Stars XI will be represented by Moin Khan, Inzimamul Haq, Abdul Razzaq, Imran Nazir, Shahid Afridi, Younus Khan, Faisal Iqbal, Sarfraz Ahmed, Nadeem Khan, Tanveer Ahmed, Khalid Latif, Khurram Manzoor and Sohail Khan.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Customs XI will be consisted of former and current Customs Cricket Academy players. Rashid Latif will lead the team. Other players include Fawad Alam, Ali Naqvi, Hafiz Asad Baig, Hassan Raza, Ramiz Raja Jr., Rana Naveedul Hasan, Ali Hussain Rizvi, Hanif Malik, Aamir Iqbal, Waqar Anwar, Yasir Hussain, Saad Alam, Khurram Shahzad, Faheem Ahmed.

Former chief selector Salahuddin Ahmed Sallu, during a pre-match press briefing, said that the event would regularly be organized from now onwards to celebrate Independence Day.

He said that organizing sports event promote peace in the country, which unfortunately was facing difficult times.

Former selector Iqbal Qasim, member selection committee Salim Jaffar, former pacer Jalaluddin and legendary hockey Olympian Islahuddin were also present on the occasion.

The match will be telecasted live on Geo Super.
