Sports: Hockey: PQA, Army, NBP win matches in National Hockey C’ship

Karachi: Port Qasim Authority, Army and NBP won their respective matches in the ongoing 60th NBP National Hockey Championship at the Johar Town Hockey Stadium in Lahore on Thursday.

In the first match of the day, PQA outclassed Police registering a convincing 3-0 victory. Owais-ur-Rehman, Javed Ali and Sohail scored one goal each for the winners in the match.

Meanwhile, Army trampled Navy registering a convincing 4-0 victory. Skipper Mohammed Safeer scored twice while Mohammad Imran and Hammad Zafar scored one each for Army.

NBP also displayed brilliant show on Thursday as the team recorded a formidable 5-0 victory against PTV. Arslan Qadir, Mohammad Dilber and Mohammad Tauseef scored one each in the first half to take a 3-0 lead. Dilber scored his second while Kashif Shah scored his first in the second half to take a 5-0 lead before the referee blew the final whistle.

On Friday, PTV and HEC will play for the ninth position, while Police and Navy will contest for the seventh position. Army and PQA will face up to decide for the fifth spot.
