Sports: Snooker: Cueists leaves for Doha today for Asian Team tourney

Karachi: Pakistan snooker team will leave for Doha today Thursday to participate in Asian Team Championship and 6Red Snooker Championship to be held in the city of Qatar from May 2430.

Pakistan will be represented by world champion, Muhammad Asif, Muhammad Sajjad, Hamza Akbar and Muhammad Majid Ali.

Earlier, Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association PBSA has said that the squad would be send on May 15 in order to help the players get some training in Doha and prepare themselves well ahead of the tournament.

“Although our counterparts were ready to host us around 10 days before the beginning of the tournament but the visa process for Qatar took time, which we didn’t new before requesting the host to provide training for our players ahead of the tournaments,” PBSA President Alamgir Sheikh told PPI.

However, he said that the players have undergone some good training here in Pakistan and he hoped that the players would perform well in Doha.

He added that after the championship concludes, Pak cueists would then stay for some time in Doha for training.

He said that around 25 Asian teams would be participating in Asian Team Tournament and there would be some good contests on cards for spectators to enjoy.
