Sports: Tennis: Brothers Aqeel, Yasir to fight for Federal Cup title

Karachi: Pakistan’s top tennis player and favorite Aqeel Khan and his second seeded brother Yasir Khan will come face to face in the summit clash of 28th Federal Cup National Ranking Tennis Championships on Wednesday at S.Dilawar Abbas PTF Tennis Complex in Islamabad.

Aqeel Khan thrashed Ahmed Chaudhry in the semifinal encounter registering a formidable 62, 60 victory to confirm his presence in the event’s climax.

Meanwhile, Yasir Khan also recorded a straight set victory against Muhammad Abid recording 63, 63 victory to affirm his seedings by qualifying for the final.

In men’s doubles, Aqeel Khan pairing with his younger brother Jalil Khan annexed the men’s doubles title after beating Yasir Khan and Shahzad Khan by 63, 64 score.

In boy’s U18 singles semifinals, Muhammad Mudassar defeated Mian Bilal recording a convincing 61, 60 victory. Mudassar will face Arham Atiq in the final, who thrashed Syed Nofil Kaleem by 60, 64 score.

Top seed Sara Mansoor and third seed Sarah Mahboob qualified for the final of ladies singles event after winning in their respective semifinal matches.

Sarah Mahboob trounced Mehak Khokhar by 61, 62 score while Sara Mansoor zapped Alina Aftab by 62, 61 score.
