Islamabad: A 20-member delegation of Islamabad Steel Fabricators Association visited Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry led by its President Aslam Sagher and Secretary General Chaudhry Irfan to apprise ICCI of various of steel fabricators.

Addressing the delegation, Khalid Chaudhry, Acting President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry said that ICCI is cooperating with CDA to remove encroachments, however, ICCI fully supports the genuine demand of steel fabricators for allotment of alternative plots to shift their business out of city.

He said 15 years ago, CDA had allotted 347 plots for steel, auto and timber trades under restricted auction and CDA had also promised to allot plots for rest of the workshops, but that promise has not been honoured as yet due to which encroachments are growing in Islamabad.

He said an Auto and Steel Market has been developed in I-10/3, Islamabad but permission for only ground floor has been given. He said if CDA allow construction of first and second floors, it will not only generate more revenue for the authority, it will also solve the residential problems of traders.

Aslam Sagher, President, Islamabad Steel Fabricators Association said Islamabad is a modern city but size of shops is quite small due to which steel fabricators are forced to do some encroachments. He called upon the CDA to address the issues of steel fabricators to facilitate them in their business.
