Strike paralyses CMCH LarkanaMarch 11, 2014
RATODERO: Chandka Medical College Hospital remained completely paralyzed due to the strike observed by Pakistan Medical Association doctors who are demanding transfer of Larkana SSP and arrest of culprits involved in the attack on Dr Partab Rai.
The protesting doctors staged a sit-in at SSP roundabout at 10.30 am which continued up to 2.00 pm. The sit-in was called off when newly posted ASP City visited doctors and assured them that the government would certainly transfer SSP and accused would be taken to task.
After that the doctors resumed their duties but PMA President Dr Shah Baig Chandio told PPI that that their token strike would continue as usually till their demands were accepted.
The PMA protest was also joined by senior Professors, Associate Professors and Consultants of Chandka Medical College & Aseefa Dental College paramedics on Tuesday morning as they boycotted their duties from 10.00 am onwards.
Their protest was also joined and supported by all CMCH paramedics, All Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA), Chandka Teachers Association (CTA), Hindu Panchyat, Awami Tehreek, JSQM and civil society members of Larkana. Due to the boycott, dozes of the indoor patients suffered badly.
All Operation Theaters, X-Rays, Laboratories, Ultrasounds, telephone exchanges, main & sub-medical stores and OPDs remained locked due to the boycott by the senior & junior doctors and others as only Accident & Emergency Centre was allowed to function to provide emergency treatment to the injured patients to save their precious lives. Indoor & OPD patients suffered this worst situation.
The PMA has also announced that private clinics of all Consultants and General Practitioners in Larkana district shall also remain locked today on Tuesday as all the doctors will be participating in the sit-in.
All the people took out a joint largely attended protest rally after gathering at PMA office in Civil Hospital block of the CMCH in Larkana which marched through the VIP road and reached at SSP roundabout where they held large protest demonstration & staged sit-in holding banners & chanting slogans against police & the government for keeping constantly mum. According to PMA President Dr. Shah Baig Chandio, the sit-in will continue till the Larkana SSP Khalid Mustafa Korai is transferred out of Larkana district and the accused involved in assaulting a pediatrician Dr. Partab Rai are arrested. CMC Principal Prof: Khursheed Abbasi, Prof: Sher Muhammad Shaikh, Dr. Majeed Shaikh, Dr. Badar Junejo, Dr. Sattar Shaikh, and all other head of departments & junior doctors, civil society members, Hindu Panchyat participated in the sit-in in very large numbers including advocate Kalapna Devi, Awami Tekreek and JSQM activists. Lady Doctors working in CMC & Hospital also took part in large numbers in sit-in. The protest started at 10.30 am due to which all kinds of traffic on this busy road remained jammed and was later diverted to other road.
Last night PPP MNA Ayaz Soomro went to the residence of affected Hindu family along with his supporters and requested them not to participate in the protest sit-in on Tuesday which has been organized by PMA but Dr. Thakur Lal, brother of the injured Dr. Partab, straightaway refused him saying his young brother has almost been killed but God has saved his life and has become paralyzed for lifetime and added that accused should not be spared. He also thanked the MNA for coming after 15 days of the inhuman incident for consolation.
