Sudan’s Transitional Military Council (TMC) of Sudan and the Forces of Declaration of Freedom and Change (FDFC) on Sunday signed an agreement on the constitutional declaration that governs the work of the transitional authority.

The document was signed by TMC Vice President Maj. Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemeti) and Ahmed Rabie, a leader of the FDFC a broad-based coalition including independent professional unions, traditional political parties and other groups that represent protesters in the presence of the African Union and Ethiopian mediators.

The document, which outlines the powers and the relationship between the branches of the transitional government, comes after weeks of protracted negotiations brokered by the AU and neighboring Ethiopia amid sporadic bouts of violence in the capital Khartoum and other cities.
