Survey 79% of Pakistanis are hopeful that the new government will be effective in ridding the country of its problems, POLL

Islamabad: According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 79% of Pakistanis are hopeful that the new government will be effective in ridding the country of its problems.

A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked “How effective do you think the new government will be in ridding the country of its problems; very effective, moderately effective, ineffective or totally ineffective” Responding to this, 42% said very effective, 37% said moderately effective, 16% said ineffective and 4% said totally ineffective. However, 1% did not give a response.

The study was released by Gilani foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International.

The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2570 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during May 13, 2013 – May 20, 2013. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 23 per cent at 95% confidence level.
