Target killing of lawyer: SHC seeks report from IGP

Karachi: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday directed the provincial police chief to submit report on targeted killing of a senior lawyer and his two teenage sons, who were killed on early Tuesday in Karachi.

The registrar SHC put a note to Chief Justice SHC, Mushir Alam pertaining to incident of killing of Advocate Kausar Saqlain Abbas and the two kids, 14-years-old Muhammad Aon Abbas and 12-years-old Muhammad Owais Abbas, asking him to take notice of the incident. To which, Chief Justice while condemning the incident directed the IG Sindh to file report of the incident.

As announced by the Karachi Bar Association and Sindh Bar Council, the legal fraternity boycotted the court proceedings in the high court and in all other its subordinate courts. General body meeting of the Sindh High Court Bar Association (SHCBA) was also held under chairmanship of its president Mustafa Lakhani.

In a meeting, SHCBA condemned the incident and called upon the government to arrest the culprits involved in killing of lawyer and his two sons. It also urged the government to pay compensation to bereaved family.
