Tariq Ikram gets Italian govt award

KARACHI: Adriano Chiodi Cianfarani, the Ambassador of the Republic of Italy to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, conferred upon Tariq Ikram, the President of the Italian Development Committee (IDC) and Chairman, Franco’s Farm group of companies, the award of “Ufficiale dell’ Ordine della Stella d’Italia” for his contribution to strengthening ties between Italy and Pakistan.

The Ordine della Stella d’Italia is an Italian order of Knighthood which was originally established in 1947 to recognize those expatriates and foreigners who made an outstanding contribution to the reconstruction of Italy after World War 2. The order is bestowed in three degrees by decree of the President of the Republic, head of the order, on the recommendation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The conferment of the award took place at a gala reception hosted by the Franco’s farm group of companies at the Marina Club. The gathering was an auspicious one, well attended by prominent members of Pakistan’s diplomatic, legislative and business communities. This event celebrated the launch of Franco’s Cereal range, along with the completion of one year of business in addition to the honour bestowed upon its chairman Mr. Tariq Ikram.

The Italian Development Committee, at Karachi, has been established by the Ambassador of Italy to Pakistan and Consul General at Karachi, for the purpose of expanding the Network of the Italian Chambers system to Pakistan under law no 518 of 1st July 1970 of Italy.
