Taxi driver murder case: ATC issues show-cause notice to IO

KARACHI: An Anti Terrorism Court-I (ATC-I) issued a show-cause notice to the Investigation Officer (IO) in murder case of taxi driver Murad Ali for his absence from the court here on Tuesday. According to the prosecution, Murad Ali was shot by Ranger Lance Naek Ghulam Rasool in Gulistan-e-Johar on 16th July 2013.

He had received five bullets and died at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. According to Rangers, it was an unintentional murder as Ghulam Rasool had tried to stop the taxi driver by aiming at the tyre of his vehicle.

ATC-I adjourned the hearing till 12-02-2014.

A case (FIR 468/13) was registered under Sections 302 (premeditated murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code at the Gulistan-i-Jauhar police station on complaint of the widow.
