KARACHI: Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association (SPLA) has announced to hold a rally from DJ Science College to Chief Minister House on Tuesday to protest injustices against teachers and corruption in education department.

Talking to PPI, President SPLA Professor Syed Ali Murtaza said that they had been staging token hunger strike outside Karachi Pres Club for 18 days but no government official had contacted them to listen to their demands.

They said: “Senior Minister for Education Nisar Khuhro had announced promotions for school teachers but he had not made any announcements for college teachers.”

He said that the teachers had decided to stage protest outside CM House as the minister and department responsible to resolve these issues had not paid any heed towards their demands.

He said that a general body meeting of SPLA would be held on March 18 at DJ Science College and after which a protest rally would be staged outside Chief Minister House. “The teachers will continue their protests until their demands are met.”

It is pertinent to mention here that teachers are demanding implementation of time-scale formula, promotions and release in PhD allowances.
