Three extortionists remanded in police custodyNovember 11, 2013
Karachi: Anti-Terrorism Court-I (ATC-I) on Monday remanded three alleged extortionists, Faraz-ul-Hassan, Nadeem-ul-Hassan and Rahil Iqbal to police custody till 24 November 2013.
Police produced the accused before ATC-I Judge Bashir Ahmed Khoso under tight security.
According to the prosecution, the accused had demanded Rs7500000 ‘protection money’ from Mohammad Qasim, a resident of Gulshan-e-Iqbal and hurled him threat of killing in case of non-payment.
The Investigation Officer (IO) of the case submitted that police needed their physical custody to trace their connections and arrest other accomplices in the crime; however, the court accepted request and directed the police to produce investigation report on next hearing.
A police party had arrested the accused on 08-11-2013 after an encounter.
FIR 260/2013 was lodged on behalf of the State at Aziz Bhatti Police Station.
