Three faulty machines in cardiology dept: Health dept reluctant to release funds

Karachi: Three Echocardiography machines of Cardiology Department of Civil Hospital Karachi CHK are out of order for last several weeks as the hospital administrations is not taking any step to repair them, putting life of heart patients in danger.

The poor heart patients have been compelled to pay heavy fees in account of tests by the private hospital of the city. A large number of patients were being tested every day through these machines at cheap rates, but now patients are facing hardships and difficulties in this regard.

Official sources at the hospital said all the out-of-order echocardiography machines were repairable at an inexpensive cost. However, due to apathy of hospital management, machines had not been repaired so far, he added.

No any administrative officer of Cardiology Department was ready to give information about the reason of the faulty machines.

Medical Superintend CHK Prof Saeed Qureshi said two echocardiography machines were out of order while third had also developed a minor fault. He said these machines could not repaired yet due to shortages of funds.

MS said he had received complain about faulty machines in Cardiology Department and administration sent fund release request to health department for repairing of these machines. He said around 60 patients get tests every day from these machines. He said issue would be resolved within a month if the fund is released on time.
