Three killed, four injured in Karachi violence

KARACHI: Three persons, including an old woman, were killed and four others injured in different acts of violence in the city on Wednesday, police said. They said two bodies of men bearing torture marks were found along Mirza Adam Khan road near Meeranaka in Lyari within the remit of Chakiwara police station. The bodies were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal facilities. The identity of the victims could not ascertained yet.

Police said both men were first tortured by unidentified culprits and then shot dead. Similarly, An old woman, aged about 85, bearing torture marks, was found dead in her house in Bilal Town near Malir Halt within the limits of Malir city police station. The body was shifted to Jinnah postgraduate medical centre for medico-legal formalities. The identity of the victim could not ascertained yet. Police said she was killed over a personal enmity. The body was four-day old.

Separately, two security guards, Asghar, 35, and Sultan, 45, were injured in firing by unidentified armed men near a private bank in Defence phase-VII in the premises of Gizri police station. The injured was rushed to Jinnah postgraduate medical centre for treatment.

Police said more than three dacoits tried to enter the bank for robbery and opened fire on two security guards when they offered resistance, leaving both security guards injured. Similarly, Atiq, 25, son of Asif, was injured in firing by unknown dacoits during resistance near Trauma centre in Nursery. The injured was rushed to Jinnah postgraduate Medical Centre for treatment.

Meanwhile, Nazir, 26, Amirrurehman was injured in firing by unidentified armed men near Agra Taj in Lyari. The injured was rushed to Civil hospital Karachi for treatment.
