Torkham border sealed

LANDIKOTAL: The Afghan border security personnel slapped a Khasadar Force personnel in his face on the Torkham border while he was checking the passports of an Afghan. This incident led to the border closure by the Pakistan Border Security Forces from morning to dust.

Thousands of Afghan were made standstill on both sides of the Torkham border for so many hours due to closure of the border. The Afghans would not be allowed without legal travelling documents across the border, an official of security forces was quoted as saying.

The NATO supply trucks and other transit goods’ trucks were also stranded on the border owing to this incident, sources said, adding even the dead bodies, patients and old people were not allowed to be carried through the border for a long time. In the past, the Afghan border officials used to apologize for their misbehavior on the border.

Meanwhile Commandant Khyber Rifles Col Fayaz Mughal while putting flowers wreaths on the memorial site of the FC martyred soldiers and officers said that security forces have rendered great and unforgettable sacrifices for the nation and tribesmen to create durable peace in the area, particularly Landikotal and the adjacent areas.

That is why Col Fayaz Mughal pledged that the role of the martyred soldiers of the Khyber Rifles would not be washed out of their brains and minds in future as well, promising that the kids and families of the martyred soldiers of FC would be helped financially and their children would be given free of cost education.

Col Fayaz Mughal later distributed gifts and cash amounts among the relatives and heirs of the martyred soldiers in Landikotal army garrison here on Tuesday.

The event was largely attended by parents and relatives of the martyred soldiers of FC, students, elders of the area besides officials of FC and political administration Landikotal.
