Islamabad: A delegation of local traders led by Ch. Muhammad Saeed, President, Traders Welfare Association, I&T Center, G-8/1, Islamabad visited Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry to protest against the levy of parking fee in Islamabad’s markets.
Ch. Abdul Ghaffar General Secretary Traders Welfare Association I&T Center G-8/1, Islamabad, Ajmal Baloch Central Organizing Secretary Traders Action Committee Islamabad, Nasir Mehmood Chaudhry Executive Member ICCI, Saeed Ahmad Bhatti former Vice President ICCI, Haji Zafar, Qari Amin and Muhammad Shafique Arain were also in the delegation.
Addressing the delegation, Khalid Chaudhry, Acting President ICCI said that due to unfriendly business environment, local traders are facing many problems in promoting business activities. In such circumstances, imposition of Rs.20/hour as parking fee in markets is not a wise move as it would discourage the consumers from visiting commercial centers leading to further slump in business activities.
He called upon the Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and the Interior Minister Ch. Nisar Ali Khan to intervene in the matter and direct the CDA to withdraw parking fee from markets in order to save the traders from further financial problems. He said a meeting of the representatives of all markets has been called on Tuesday in ICCI to ponder on this serious matter.
Ch. Muhammad Saeed, President, Traders Welfare Association, I&T Center, G-8/1, Islamabad said that government is trying to cope with economic challenges, but the corrupt bureaucracy is taking measures to provoke the traders against the government. However, he vowed that business community would thwart all such conspiracies. He also declared that business community will never allow imposition of parking fee in markets.
