Trains stopped as rainwater inundates track near Thatta

Thatta: Karakoram Express, Night Coach and other trains were stopped when floodwater after heavy rains inundated main rail track, while the road contact of Jhampir town with Thatta went disconnected after flashfloods in this hilly areas.

As per details, heavy rains that last for hours played havoc with district Thatta. Rainwater entered shops in Shahi Bazaar, Chandni Chowk and Shaikh Farid Chowk, causing huge losses to the traders. In many localities of the town rainwater entered home. Whole town wore the look of huge garbage dump as garbage lifting and draining out of stagnant gutter water went suspended.

In Jungshahi area 10 villages including Mongar Palejo Goth, Hassan Palejo Goth, Haji Shahan Goth, Shafi Jakhro Goth and Adam Jakhro Goth were flooded, displacing a large number of villagers who took shelter at safer places and roads.

Moreover, the Right Bank Outfall Drain RBOD spilled over and more than six breaches occurred in Karachi Water and Sewerage Board KWSB Supply River flooded dozens of Goths.

The district management and other government agencies failed to rescue people from the flooded Goths or set up any relief camp for them.
