Tribal elders express satisfaction over security steps for election in Kurram agency

Peshawar: The tribal elders from Kurram Agency have expressed satisfaction over security measures carrying out by government and law enforcement agencies for holding fair, transparent and peaceful election in the agency, predicated that a good turnout of voters on election day 11 May under the safety steps.

Addressing at a news conference here at press club on Thursday, a elder from Kurram Agency, Engr Wazir Ali said that the situation was quite favorable for conducing election in a peaceful amid sufficient security measures by government and law enforcement agencies for the polling day.

Flanked by elders from different tribes, Haji Khadim Hussain, Ali Qambar, Aqil Hussain, Khayal Hussain and others, Mr Wazir said the people from eight different tribes have assured the Assistant Political Agent, Kurram Malitia, and head of armed forces for extending fully support during the election in the agency.

Owing to security concerns, he informed the parachinar city has been completely sealed off with additional deployment of militia forces backed by security personnels for protection of lives and property of the masses. He expressed the hope that the election would be held in peaceful and secure environment under the present safety steps.

The elders strongly supported the Haji Sajjid Hussain Turi as emerged strong candidate from national assembly seat NA37 in the agency on basis of performance during last five years. They claimed that a record development schemes had been completed in education, health sectors, while the practical steps taken for welfare of the masses by the Sajjid Turi.

He therefore urged the registered voters of the agency to fully participate in election and to use their right to vote on May 11.
