Two-day consultative workshop on SDPF concluded in Islamabad on SaturdayFebruary 15, 2014
Peshawar: The two-day consultative workshop on Strategic Development Partnership Framework concluded in Islamabad on Saturday with great expectations from the foreign donors to align their priorities with the priorities of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and to trust the country systems side by side with the commitment on the part of the government to accept the responsibility to make the systems credible and provide confidence to the development partners to spend every rupee for improving the lives of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Additional Chief Secretary Khalid Pervez while addressing the closing session expressed gratitude to the development partners on their interest in the development of the KPK.
He said the both ways consultations provided opportunities for creating synergies. He said on the part of the provincial government, they were committed to provide conducive environment to the development partners in their bid to carry out their developmental strategies in the province.
The ACS expressed the hope that a day would come when the all the donors support would go through their country systems and would be utilized in an effective and efficient manner. He said they felt that the real challenge for them was to achieve the indicators like enrolling their children in schools, immunizing their children, providing jobs to the youth and reducing poverty.
The ACS said the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had taken many positive steps to improve the systems. He said the enacting the Right to Information Act, Local Government Act and public financial management strategy etc. He said the aim of those legal framework was to make the state accountable to its people and thus bring them closer to the state.
The concluding session of the workshop started with the detailed expressions of the KPK Secretaries Sahibzada Saeed Ahmad, Syed Akhtar Ali Shah, Ghulam Qadir, Afzal Latif, Ruhullah Khan, Syed Said Badshah Bukhari, Sikandar Qayyum and Hifzur Rahman.
They spoke on the challenges, risks and opportunities in the social sectors and highlighted the key performance indicators. They also put before the participants the outcomes and outputs in their respective sectors. The sectoral terms of references and activities planned for the next three years were also explained to the development partners.
The donors expressed great pleasure and satisfaction over the presentation of the Strategic Development Partnership Framework and assured their full support to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government in carrying out its reforms agenda according to the expectations of the general masses.
