United Nations has warned of troubling signs of recent military escalation in Syria calling for taking urgent steps to ensure nationwide ceasefire in the country.
In a briefing to the UN Security Council, the UN special envoy for Syria, Geir O. Pedersen voiced concern that an escalatory cycle could see events further unravel and will put international peace and security at risk.
He said there is dire need to genuinely restore Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
