UN lauds Radio Pakistan for keeping well abreast millions of people

The United Nations has appreciated the role of Radio Pakistan in disseminating the information to millions of its listeners keeping them well abreast about their rights and duties.

This was stated by United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Pakistan Knut Ostby while giving his welcome note in a Workshop organized by United Nations Information Center in collaboration with Pakistan Broadcasting Academy.

Knut Ostby said Radio Pakistan is playing a pivotal role in achieving sustainable development goals (SDGs) adopted by 193 countries of the globe.

He said Radio Pakistan has massive outreach in the remotest parts of the country which makes it more effective medium.

While during presentation on SDGs Policy Analyst of UNDP in Pakistan Umer Ahlaq Malik said that News and Current Affairs Channel of Radio Pakistan has produced number of commendable programmes.

Speaking on occasion, Communication and Advocacy Officer UNIC in Pakistan Ishrat Rizvi said that Pakistan provided a platform to UN agencies to inform the listeners about their constructive role in different fields in Pakistan.

She said that we, all stakeholders should work together for implementation of SDGs as these agendas could not be implemented without public private partnership.

At the end, United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Pakistan Knut Ostby distributed certificates among the participants.
