Update News: Five killed in Karachi violence

KARACHI: Five people, including a police officer and a stage dancer were killed in separate firing incidents in the city on Tuesday.

The bodies of a man and woman were found from Labour Square SITE area, within the remit of SITEB police station. The victims were, later, identified as stage dancer Anam Naz, and Assistant Sub Inspector ASI of police Malik Ijaz.

Police sources said that the couple was first fired upon and then set on fire by the unidentified men. The bodies have been shifted to a local hospital in the city.

Separately, a newly wedded couple was shot dead inside their house situated in Kunwari Colony, Manghopir, within the jurisdiction of Peerabad police station.

The victims were identified as 22yearsold Ahmed Shah, and his 18yearsold wife Sana Naaz.

Police said couple got married in court six months ago, against the will of their parents. The mother of girl, Palwasha, visited the Sana’s house along with her brother Afzal. The other brother of Sana, Bahadur also visited their house and opened firing on the couple, killing them on spot.

Peerabad police arrested Afzal and Palwasha, while Bahadur managed to escape after committing crime.

The bodies were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital ASH for medicolegal formalities.

In other incident, unidentified men gunned down a 30year old person near Northern Bypass area of the city.

Moreover, a person was wounded near Qayyumabad Bridge after he offered resistance during a robbery bid. The 40year old injured was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
