Updated News: College principal among six fall prey to target killing

KARACHI: A college principal among six people fell prey to different acts of violence in the metropolis on Monday.

A college principal was gunned down in Liaquatabad. Police said Sibte Hussain Jaffari 50, was going home from Government Degree Science College Liaquatabad when unidentified armed men riding a bike opened indiscriminate fire, killing him on the spot near Sindhi Hotel. He was posted as principal at the college, police said.

The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medicolegal formalities. Sind Professors and Lecturers Association SPLA has strongly condemned the killing of the principal and announced boycott of educational activities in colleges across Sind.

A 22yearold youngster, Danish, son of Ashraf, was gunned down by unidentified armed men in Bandhani Colony near Karachi Complex within the remit of Liaquatabad police station. The body was moved to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital ASH for medicolegal formalities.

Police said the man was sitting at his tyre puncture repair shop when armed men targeted him.

Separately, the body of a woman, aged around 33 to 35, was found from a garbage dumping point in Korangi, Sector No. 32A, within the jurisdiction of Korangi police station. The identity of victim could not be ascertained yet. The body was brought to Edhi Morgue after completing the legal formalities from Civil Hospital Karachi CHK.

Korangi police said the throat slit body of the woman was found from Bengali Para near Cambridge School early this morning. Police have registered an FIR 51/2013 under section 302, 201 and 34 against unknown men.

Similarly, a 30yearold man, Mannan alias Munna, son of Saeed, was killed in firing by unidentified armed men in Machhar Colony, within the precincts of Docks police station. The body was moved to CHK for a postmortem.

Meanwhile, a 48yearold Zakir Hussain, son of Mustafa, was killed in firing by unidentified armed men near Kala Pul, within the limits of Defence police station. The body was moved to JPMC for an autopsy.

Rescue sources said the victim was a sub Inspector and was standing near Kala Pul when the incident happened.

Moreover, a 22yearold man, Shahrukh, was killed in firing by unknown men in Ranchhore Line, Ghas Mandi area. The body was brought to CHK for an autopsy.
