Uzbekistan sends humanitarian aid to Afghanistan

Tashkent (UNA-OIC) � As per the decision of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Uzbekistan sent on Tuesday 3,000 tons of wheat in humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.

The Uzbek National Railway Company has delivered the humanitarian assistance to the citizens of Afghanistan, who were affected by the drought.

In the Afghan border town of Hairatan, the ceremony of handing over the humanitarian aid was held with the participation of Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev, head of the Uzbek Consular Department in Mazar-i-Sharif Mirodil Abdurazzakov, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Afghanistan to Uzbekistan Sayed Shahabuddin Timory, as well as state officials of the two countries.

The humanitarian aid of Uzbekistan to Afghanistan also included children’s clothing. The initiative is a sign of ongoing cooperation in strengthening good neighborly relations between the two countries, which has risen to a new level in recent years.
