Various rallies taken out to mark Labour Day

HYDERABAD: Various labour parties took out rallies here on Wednesday to mark the International Labour Day and to pay homage to Chicago martyrs who sacrificed their lives for welfare of global labourers community.

The rallies were taken out by Pakistan Workers Federation, Wapda Hydro Central Labour Union, Mehran Labour Union, People’s Labour Bureau, Awami Workers Party, Pakistan Human Rights Foundation, Porhiyat Sangat and other labour unions from different parts of the city.

The participants marched through different roads and reached Hyderabad Press Club. Speaking on the occasion, the leaders of unions called for labourers-friendly legislations.

Pakistan Workers Federation and Hydro Union leaders Abdul Latif Nizamani, Iqbal Qaimkhani, Iqbal Ahmed Khan, Azam Khan and Asadullah demanded that wages should be paid to workers as per their work.

People’s Labour Bureau leaders Mushtaq Ali Kalhoro, Syed Kamal Shah, Akber Memon and Azam Rajput said that PPP government gave proof of being labour-friendly by regularizing services of contract employees.

Pakistan Human Rights Foundation leaders Mehboob Sangi, Dr Qasim Soomro and Shabnam Shaikh expressed concern over the plight of labour community. They said that labourers have been deprived of their due rights.

Awami Workers Party leaders comrade Bux Thalo, Faiz, Mubarak Jatoi and Latif Ansari paid tribute to Chicago martyrs who sacrificed lives for the workers rights.
