Wassan hopeful MQM to sit on treasury benches

Karachi: Sindh minister for prisons, enquiries and anticorruption and mines and minerals Manzoor Hussain Wassan has hoped that Muttahida Qaumi Movement MQM would sit on the treasury benches soon.

Talking to media here Tuesday after meeting a US delegation, he said he has already predicted of a ‘political explosion’ before August 15 this year. He said he believes that finally the MQM would join the government. He said peace in Karachi is possible if all political stakeholders show sincerity.

He said the central jails of Karachi, Hyderabad and Sukkur face security problems. He said to improve security of jails prison cops and rangers would be sent for training aboard. He said presently there is capacity of 8000 inmates in Sindh jails but they house 14000 inmates. He said the Karachi Central Jail faces more threat and for this the height of its wall is being raised to 16feet.

Earlier, the two-member US delegation of the US Karachi Consulate led by political officers Keisha Toms and Cornor J Menamera called on Wassan and discussed with him matter of mutual interest. They took keen interest in jail security in Sindh and assured allout help in this regard to the provincial minister.
