Working Group to implement austerity measures

Peshawar: The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has constituted a Committee/Working Group to implement wide ranging austerity measures with an aim to cut down current expenditure and to bring it in line with revenues.

The Committee/Working Group will comprise: Sirajul Haq, Senior Minister for Finance as Chairman and Yousaf Ayub Khan Minister for C&W, Ms. Aneesa Zaib Tahirkheli MPA, Sardar Muhammad Idrees MPA, Farooq Haroon ex-CSP Officer, Additional Chief Secretary (Finance), Additional Chief Secretary (P&D), Secretary Administration, Secretary Establishment, Secretary Law, Additional Secretaries (Education, Health and Home), Abdus Samad Khan, Ex-Secretary Finance and Dr. Ihsanul Haq, Ex-Secretary Home and Health as members of the committee.

Terms of Reference of Committee/Working Group shall be as under: To identify specific areas of Government expenditure where austerity measures can be implemented, to consider and identify non productive group in public sector organizations to be declared as dying cadre, out sourcing of janitorial watch and ward and other services as an economy measure, merger/rationalization of departments, carrying out VFM reviews of ADP and other O&M activities of the government, bringing frugality in energy consumption and its related cases, modalities for linking pay rise to performance, policy of choice attrition of non-core employees on their retirement and better use of government assets such as vehicles and accommodation, says a notification issued by Finance Department Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
