PM leaves for Qatar on Sunday to attend UN Conference on LDCs

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will participate in the United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDCs), being held in Doha, Qatar.

The Conference, which starts on Sunday and to continue till Thursday next, will consider steps for accelerating sustainable development in the Least Developed Countries, helping them make progress on the road to prosperity.

The Prime Minister will hold bilateral meetings and interactions with participating leaders and Heads of Delegation on the sidelines of the Conference.

Pakistan has been playing a leading role at UN platforms to amplify the collective voice of the Global South to promote sustainable development worldwide.

The Prime Minister’s participation in the Conference will signify Pakistan’s support and solidarity with the Least Developed Countries, in their quest for social progress and economic prosperity.

Govt earmarks over Rs78b for next installment of Benazir Kafalat Program: Shazia

Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection and Chairman Benazir Income Support Programme, Shazia Marri says the government has earmarked over 78 billion rupees for the next installment of Benazir Kafalat program whereas the annual budget for the programme is 252 billion rupees.

Talking to media after inaugurating Benazir Dynamic Registry Center in Khangarh today, she said six dynamic Registry Centers have been set up in Muzaffargarh district under Benazir Income Support Programme.

She said currently, more than three hundred twenty-one thousand families of Muzaffargarh district are being given scholarships under Benazir Income Support Program.

PPP ready for elections: Faisal Kundi

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, Faisal Karim Kundi has said the PPP does not believe in the politics of abuse and victimization but the democratic norms.

Talking to a private news channel, he said it is the duty of the Election Commission of Pakistan to announce the date of the elections.

He said the PPP is ready for elections in the country, however, decision in this regard will be taken in accordance with the constitution, rather than; on the dictation of one person.

Faisal Karim Kundi said constitution, democracy and the current system cannot be enslaved on the basis of bullying and propaganda.
