Pakistan’s forex reserves rise 12 mln USD

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) said on Thursday night that its foreign exchange reserves have increased by 12 million U.S. dollars.

During the week ending on Aug. 11, its total foreign exchange reserves moved to around 8.1 billion dollars, the SBP said in a statement.

Net foreign reserves held by commercial banks came at 5.3 billion dollars, the central bank said.

Total liquid foreign reserves held by the South Asian country stood at about 13.4 billion dollars, according to the SBP.

Delegations from Balochistan call on Caretaker PM in Islamabad

Delegations from different parts of Balochistan met with Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar in Islamabad on Friday.

The delegations congratulated Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar on becoming Prime Minister and expressed good wishes for him.

The leaders of the delegations expressed that the appointment of caretaker prime minister from Balochistan has strengthened the people’s faith in the political system and the country’s democracy.

They presented bouquets of flowers to the Prime Minister and some members presented gifts of books.

Caretaker PM vows to ensure protection of minorities in Pakistan

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has expressed firm resolve to ensure that minorities in Pakistan stay protected and rule of law is established at any cost.

He was speaking during first meeting of the caretaker federal cabinet in Islamabad on Friday.

Strongly deploring the Jaranwala incident, the Prime Minister said Pakistan is owned and shared by multiple ethnicities and religions and any extreme attitude like the one exhibited in Jaranwala will be unwelcomed and dealt with iron hands.

He said we strongly discourage rigidity either in the garb of religion or secularism and no one will be allowed to create anarchy or chaos in the country.

Highlighting the key priorities of the caretaker government, the Prime Minister said in the current polarized environment, we will try to differentiate between politics and law and lay a solid foundation for continuity of the country’s national and international commitments. He added that in the same spirit of continuity we will move forward to work with the support of all state institutions on different development initiatives especially the Special Investment Facilitation Council which aims at realizing the full potential of country’s natural resources.

Alluding to the incidents of May 9, Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar strongly condemned the way state buildings, national symbols and memorials of war heroes were attacked.

He vowed that justice will be done and those involved in these attacks will be dealt with in accordance with law.

Talking about Kashmir issue, the Prime Minister said Kashmir is a core problem, which cannot be ignored as it lies in our souls and for us Kashmir is eternal.

Caretaker PM resolves to support Kashmiris’ just struggle

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar has reiterated that Pakistan will stand shoulder to shoulder with the Kashmiris in their struggle to achieve their right to self-determination

Talking to President Azad Jammu and Kashmir Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry in Islamabad today, he also assured the President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir of Pakistan’s unconditional support for Kashmir cause.

He said Pakistan will continue to extend political, diplomatic and moral support to the Kashmiris till resolution of the Kashmir issue through a plebiscite as per the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.

During the meeting, the AJK President congratulated Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar on assuming the office of the Prime Minister and expressed his best wishes.

He also extended invitation to the Caretaker Prime Minister to visit Azad Jammu and Kashmir and address the Legislative Assembly.

Murtaza Solangi applauds Marriyum Aurangzeb for running Info Ministry in best manner

Caretaker Minister for Information Murtaza Solangi visited the residence of former Member of National Assembly Tahira Aurangzeb in Rawalpindi and met former Minister for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb.

Marriyum Aurangzeb congratulated him on assuming the responsibility of caretaker Information Minister and extended best wishes for him.

The Caretaker Information Minister applauded Marriyum Aurangzeb for running the Information Ministry in the best manner for 16 months.

He discussed the overall situation of the country and the issues related to the Ministry with the former Information Minister.

He said the PEMRA (Amendment) Bill, 2023 has proved her democratic spirit and consultative skills.

Murtaza Solangi said he will try to continue the standard of work set by Marriyum Aurangzeb.
