Air Chief lauds collective resolve of PAF to uphold preparedness in face of evolving security challenges

Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu has lauded the collective resolve of PAF to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and preparedness in the face of evolving security challenges.

He made the remarks during his visit to PAF Base Mianwali following a foiled terrorist attack.

The Air Chief commended the on-duty security personnel for their unwavering professionalism and bravery in thwarting the malicious attempt and neutralizing the intruders in the minimum possible time.

He also thanked the joint operations team comprising Zarar Company of Pakistan Army and civil LEAs for their timely support to counter the infiltration most optimally.

Pakistan advocates right of Palestinians to establish independent, viable state within borders of pre-1967

At the United Nations, Pakistan has advocated the right of Palestinians to establish an independent and viable state within the borders of pre-1967, with Al-Aqsa as its capital.

Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York Munir Akram during General Assembly’s Fourth Committee meeting said first and foremost a ceasefire is required in Gaza.

He said despite the UN General Assembly’s overwhelming call for a sustained humanitarian ceasefire, Israel is continuing its brutal air strikes and ground invasion in Gaza.

Ambassador Akram said war crimes and crimes against humanity are being committed by Israel with complete impunity.

He said nine thousand Palestinians have been mercilessly killed in Gaza, and 22000 are injured, mostly women and children.

Munir Akram said Pakistan will continue to provide supplies to besieged Palestinians through Egypt.

SC issues written order in cases seeking general elections in 90 days

The Supreme Court has issued a ten-page written order in cases seeking general elections in 90 days.

The decision written by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa says the apex court facilitated the President and the Election Commission of Pakistan in fixing the elections’ date.

It said all parties agreed on the fixed date of elections on February 8th. The order said the time has come that the courts should not unnecessarily become a part of disputes that waste time.

It added that the authority of the SC to set the date of elections was as per the constitution. If any institution interferes the constitutional limits of another, the consequences would be serious.

The court stated that we must learn from history that violation of the constitution has a negative impact on the people and the country’s geographical boundaries.

Pakistan lauds courageous UN workers serving humanity in Gaza

At the United Nations, Pakistan has paid tribute to staff members of Relief and Works Agency for their work in Gaza to serve Palestinians despite continued Israeli bombardment.

Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Munir Akram speaking at the General Assembly’s Fourth Committee, which deals with special political and decolonization issues paid high tributes to the agency and also renewed his call for an immediate ceasefire.

He expressed great admiration for the courageous work of UNRWA which has lost more than 70 staff members.

The Pakistani envoy called UNRWA workers “martyrs”, rejecting ” with contempt” the “wild” allegations earlier made by the Israeli delegate that the UN agency was providing shelter to the Hamas fighters in its facilities.

He said Pakistan will continue to support UNRWA until the Palestinian refugees are able to return to their homeland, once they establish an independent and viable contiguous state within the borders of pre-1967 June, with Al-Aqsa as its capital.

ECP Secretary visits central control center established for monitoring Sindh LG by-polls

Secretary Election Commission Umar Hameed Khan visited the central control center, Islamabad established for monitoring of Sindh Local Government by-elections.

He took briefing about the polling process from the monitoring team and expressed satisfaction over it.

The Secretary Election Commission contacted the provincial Election Commissioner, Sindh and directed the relevant officials to ensure security to the polling staff and material so they safely reach the offices of returning officers.
