PM directs to ensure uninterrupted power, gas supply during Ramadan


Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed to ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity and gas to consumers during Ramadan.

Chairing a high-level meeting regarding the petroleum sector in Islamabad today, he said job of the government is to facilitate the private sector and protect interests of consumers, especially the economically weaker segments of the society.

The Prime Minister instructed to provide all kinds of facilities to the private sector, local and foreign investors in oil and gas exploration, refining and distribution.

Prime Minister advised to take measures to promote international investment for the exploration of tight gas as well as undersea oil and gas reserves.

He expressed dismay over not taking steps to utilize the resources available in Pakistan’s maritime boundaries, whose area is more than Balochistan.

He said discovery of massive oil and gas reserves within the maritime limits of Pakistan and taking their full advantage is priority of his government.

Shehbaz Sharif stressed th
e need to enhance the refining capacity of the country.

He sought a comprehensive strategy to end the circular debt of the gas and oil sector and to solve this problem on permanent basis. He said culprits involved in gas and electricity theft should be identified and punished. He suggested that gas losses can be reduced through smart metering.

The Prime Minister resolved that he would not allow plundering of national exchequer and people’s hard earned money. He said strict monitoring of the Liquefied Petroleum Gas sector should be ensured to provide LPG to consumers at affordable rates. He further directed to ensure uninterrupted supply of gas to industries.

Shehbaz Sharif said domestic consumers should be encouraged to run their daily use items on electricity instead of gas.

He also sought a report regarding the implementation of the action plan prepared for energy conservation during the previous regime.

He gave the instructions to develop the administrative structure of Pakistan’s energy sector on int
ernational lines.

He said a short, medium and long-term action plan on energy sector reforms should be compiled and presented to him on a priority basis.

All Pakistan speech competition organized by Suno FM concludes


The closing ceremony of the all Pakistan speech competition titled 23rd March 1940 and Today’s Pakistan, organized by Suno FM Radio Network was held in Army Public School DHA Campus Islamabad.

The chief guest of the closing ceremony was the great writer and poet Iftikhar Arif.

Guests from different walks of life, students and families of speakers participated in the speech competition.

In the closing ceremony, the young people selected from all over the country demonstrated the art of speech and received great applause.

Haider Abbas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province won the first position while Muhammad Abdullah Nawaz of Lahore got the second place and Meshaal Abrar Abbasi of Azad Jammu and Kashmir stood third.

A prize amount of five hundred thousand rupees was given to the first position winner, three hundred thousand rupees to the second position and two hundred thousand rupees rupees to the third position winner.

At the end of the program, famous poet and writer Iftikhar Arif entertained everyone with h
is poetry and the ceremony ended with distribution of prizes and group photo.

PM, Air Chief discuss matters pertaining to PAF


Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad today.

The Air Chief congratulated the Prime Minister on assuming the office.

During the meeting, professional matters of the Pakistan Air Force came under discussion.

President felicitates nation on advent of Ramadan


President Asif Ali Zardari has congratulated the entire Pakistani nation and Muslims around the world on the advent of Ramadan.

In his message, he said Ramadan provides us with a golden opportunity to become an ideal Muslim by devoting ourselves to the obedience and servitude of the Allah Almighty.

Asif Ali Zardari also urged philanthropists to pay zakat and do more charity on this Ramadan to support the needy and destitute.

Besides, the President appealed the international community and the Muslim Ummah to help the oppressed Palestinians as well. He called for immediate ceasefire in Gaza and taking practical steps to stop the genocide of innocent Palestinians.

Asif Ali Zardari presented guard of honour at Aiwan-e-Sadr


President Asif Ali Zardari was presented guard of honor at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad as he assumed office of the President of Pakistan today.

During the ceremony, the national anthem was played while smartly turned-out contingents of the Armed Forces of Pakistan presented him salute. The President inspected the guard of honor.

Later, the President Zardari was introduced with the staff of the Aiwan-e-Sadr.
