Death anniversary of poet Riaz-Ur-Rehman Sagar being observed today


Eleventh death anniversary of veteran lyricist and poet Riaz-Ur-Rehman Sagar is being observed today.

Riaz-ur-Rehman’s published works inlcude ‘Aangan Aangan Taaray’, ‘Arz Kiya Hai’, ‘Wo Bhi Kya Din Thay’ and ‘Chand Jharokay Mai’.

Saghar versed vocals for many singers such as Hadiqa Kiani’s songs ‘Dupatta Mera Malmal Da’ and ‘Yaad Sajan Di Ayi’.

He also authored all the ten songs for singer Fariha Pervez’s album ‘O Vela Yad Kar.’

Riaz Saghar wrote more than 2,000 songs in his career and also wrote stories for 75 films including Shama, Naukar, Susraal, Shabana, Nazrana, Aurat aik paheli, Aawaz, Bharosa, Tarana and Moor.

He had won much recognition and many awards for his work in his lifetime.

He died on this day in 2013 at age 71 in Lahore.

Digitization process of consumer data underway in GB: Food Department


Digitization process of the consumer data is underway in all districts of Gilgit-Baltistan by the Food Department Gilgit Baltistan.

According to the department, this process will be completed till the end of the next month.

The Food Department has appealed to the people to register the names of all their family members, so that the delivery and distribution of subsidized wheat can be made transparent.

They also said the data will also be verified with the support of NADRA and LGandRD for more correction.

Constitution guarantees protection to all citizens: Tarar


Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar says Pakistan’s constitution guarantees equal and complete protection to all citizens including minorities.

Addressing a ceremony to pay tribute to services of Justice (retd) A.R. Cornelius in Lahore today, he said according to the teachings of the Holy Quran and Holy Prophet (PBUH), minorities have been given all rights.

The Law Minister said that Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s vision was to create a tolerant society where all people live in harmony.

Azam Nazeer Tarar said the government has provided a conducive environment to minorities to practice their religion.
