Interior Minister, Khalid Mehmood discuss Overseas Pakistanis’ issues


Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met Former Member of the British Parliament, Khalid Mehmood, in London today.

During the meeting, they discussed measures to resolve the issues facing overseas Pakistanis in detail.

Khalid Mehmood expressed gratitude to Mohsin Naqvi for addressing the matter of passport issuance for Overseas Pakistanis within a specific timeline.

He expressed hope that the Interior Minister would take proactive steps to resolve other issues concerning overseas Pakistanis.

Mohsin Naqvi praised the contributions of Pakistanis living abroad and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continuing efforts to facilitate Overseas Pakistanis at all levels.

DG lauds Radio Pakistan’s role in promotion of national unity, cohesion


Director General Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation Saeed Ahmed Shaikh says Radio Pakistan, being the oldest and biggest broadcasting institution of the country, is playing an important role for promotion of national unity and cohesion.

In an exclusive interview with PTV News, he said Radio Pakistan’s role for the promotion of country’s culture and literature is unmatchable.

He emphasized the institution’s commitment to embracing and celebrating regional languages, noting the alignment of various programs to cater to diverse linguistic audiences.

Highlighting Radio Pakistan’s commitment to religious dissemination, the Director General revealed that the Saut-ul-Quran channel is now broadcasting the recitation of the Holy Quran with Urdu Translation in 18 cities across Pakistan, with plans to extend this service to an additional 18 cities.

This initiative underscores Radio Pakistan’s dedication to facilitating spiritual enrichment and religious harmony among the populace.

In line with the evolving digital
landscape, he highlighted significant strides in expanding Radio Pakistan’s digital footprint. With 53 channels now accessible through the Radio App, Radio Pakistan is reaching audiences not only across Pakistan but also worldwide, wherever internet connectivity is available. This expansion reflects Radio Pakistan’s adaptability to contemporary technological trends, ensuring broader access to its diverse range of programs and content.

Saeed Ahmed Shaikh emphasized Radio Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to serving communities in remote areas devoid of basic amenities like electricity and internet connectivity. The broadcasting network’s extensive reach spans from the northern region of Gilgit to the southern port city of Gwadar, ensuring that Radio Pakistan’s enriching content is accessible to listeners in every corner of the country.

He said Radio Pakistan’s vibrant social media platforms have huge following with over two point seven million followers on Facebook and about one million on Twitter.

The Direc
tor General emphasized the vital role of the network in serving Pakistan’s diverse demographic landscape.

Talking about the significance of radio as a primary source of information, particularly in remote regions where access to other media is limited, he highlighted Radio Pakistan’s pivotal role in keeping communities informed, especially in rural Balochistan through its news bulletins.

Saeed Ahmed Shaikh underscored the network’s resilience in times of crises, citing its indispensable role during natural disasters such as floods and earthquakes.

He noted that Radio Pakistan swiftly mobilized emergency services to provide crucial updates and support to affected populations.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Radio Pakistan emerged as a frontline disseminator of information, broadcasting awareness campaigns in various regional and local languages to educate and empower citizens across the country.

Furthermore, Saeed Ahmed Shaikh outlined Radio Pakistan’s commitment to supporting Pakistan’s agricultural sector
through specialized programming tailored for farmers, aiming to enhance productivity and contribute to the nation’s agricultural growth.

In line with modernization efforts, he elaborated Radio Pakistan’s digital transformation initiatives, including the renovation of studios to enhance production quality and efficiency, ensuring that the network remains at the forefront of broadcasting technology.

Sindh Govt, WB implementing program to solarize buildings


Sindh Government in collaboration with World Bank is implementing a comprehensive program to solarize public sector buildings.

In this connection, a meeting was held between Sindh Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah and World Bank Technical Mission in Karachi.

Speaking on the occasion, Sindh Energy Minister said in the first phase of solarization twenty-one point seven Mega Watt of electricity is being provided through the solar panels to thirty-four public sector buildings.

Nasir Shah said the pace of the solar project was being monitored on a daily basis.

The delegation of the World Bank Technical Mission expressed satisfaction over the pace of the solar energy project and assured its full cooperation.

Ahsan hails China’s contribution in Pakistan’s development


Federal Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal says China has shown a remarkable contribution in development of different regions of Pakistan, including Gwadar under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Talking to Chinese news agency Xinhua, he said Gwadar will become an internationally acclaimed world-class port city with tremendous opportunities for its people.

Appreciating China’s contributions for the uplift of Gwadar, Ahsan Iqbal said China has set up a state-of-the-art modern hospital and helped set up a technical training institution in for the people of Gwadar.

He said China has also undertaken initiatives to improve the lives of the local people including provision of solar panels to them.

Ahsan Iqbal pointed out that China has also given scholarships for the youth of Gwadar who are studying in Chinese universities.

Countrywide anti-polio drive begins tomorrow


In Punjab, anti-polio drive will start in six specific districts from tomorrow, which will continue until 9th of this month.

During the drive, forty thousand polio workers will administer polio drops to a total of six point four million children up to five years of age, in districts of Lahore, Okara Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan and Mianwali.

A five-day anti-polio drive in 23 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa begins on Monday.

More than three point five million children up to five years of age will be administered anti-polio drops during the anti-polio drive.

Eighteen thousand and three hundred teams have been constituted which will visit door to door in these districts to administer polio drops to each and every child.

Meanwhile, seven day anti-polio drive will begin in 14 Districts of Balochistan on Monday.

Coordinator Emergency Operation Center Balochistan Syed Zahid Shah said due to expected heatwave in Nasirabad, Sibi, Jaffar Abad, Ustha Muhammad, Dera Bugti and Sohbatpur the anti-polio drive will
begin on 8th June.

He said during the drive, more than 1.8 million children up to five years of age would be administered anti-polio drops.
