Pakistan, China reaffirm mutual support on core issues


Pakistan and China have reaffirmed the unwavering support to each other on core issues and expressed continued commitment for the high-quality development of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

This came at delegation level talks between the two sides at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing today.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif led the Pakistani delegation while the Chinese side by Premier Li Qiang.

The two sides emphasized timely completion of all ongoing projects with special focus on industrial development, agriculture modernization, Science and Technology and development of Special Economic Zones for mutually beneficial and socio-economic development of Pakistan.

They discussed the significance of Gwadar as an important pillar of CPEC and agreed to expedite the timely completion of all related infrastructure projects to transform Gwadar into a regional economic hub.

They also expressed their firm commitment to protect CPEC from its detractors and adversaries and to upgrade CPEC in the form of
enhanced cooperation.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s unflinching resolve to ensure the safety and security of Chinese personnel and projects in Pakistan.

They agreed to maintain high-level exchanges including strengthening institutional linkages at all tiers and in all spheres of bilateral cooperation.

Pakistan and China will also continue to consult closely on issues of regional and global significance and multilateral fora especially during the two-year tenure of Pakistan as non-member of UN Security Council.

The two sides noted that Pakistan-China All- Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership was characterized by mutual trust, shared principles and strategic convergence.

Premier Li Qiang congratulated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Pakistan election as non-permanent member of UN Security Council.

The delegation level talks were followed by an MoU signing ceremony, witnessed by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Premier Li Qiang, where both sides signed 23 MoUs and agreements deep
ening cooperation in transport infrastructure, industry, energy, agriculture, media, health, water, socio-economic development and other areas of mutual interest.

The meeting was followed by an official banquet hosted by Premier Li Qiang in honour of the Prime Minister.

Efforts afoot to construct Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway: Senate told


The Senate was informed today that the government is undertaking efforts to construct Sukkur-Hyderabad motorway.

Responding to a calling attention notice in the house today, Minister for Housing and Works Riaz Hussain Pirzada expressed the confidence that progress on the project is expected to be visible in the next six months.

He said that we want to complete the project at the earliest in partnership mode.

The house has now been adjourned to meet again on Monday at five pm.

2nd phase of CPEC to prioritize cooperation in diverse sectors: PM


Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif says high quality development under second phase of CPEC will prioritize cooperation in Special Economic Zones, industries, IT, mines, agriculture and clean energy.

He was talking to Chairman of the Standing Committee of National People’s Congress of China, Zhao Leji in Beijing today.

The Prime Minister noted the importance of convening the next round of Joint Consultative Mechanism Political Parties under the CPEC.

He proposed several initiatives to strengthen parliamentary exchanges, including enhancing interactions between the China- Pakistan Friendship Groups and exchanging delegations of young parliamentarians.

The Prime Minister paid rich tribute to Chairman Zhao for his contributions to Chinese politics and society.

He said Pakistan’s relations with China are cornerstone of its foreign policy and this relationship is based on strategic trust, commonality of views, and practical cooperation.

On the occasion, Chairman Zhao Leji expressed China’s commitment to further
solidify the ‘All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership’ with Pakistan.

He congratulated Shehbaz Sharif on Pakistan’s election as the non-permanent member of UNSC for the term 2025-2026.

Both leaders agreed that this offered an opportunity to the two countries to work together on questions of peace and promoting with law and multilateralism.

The two sides reaffirmed support to each other’s core interests and underscored the need to maintain the momentum of high level exchanges for further deepening the bilateral friendship.

They agreed to promote engagement and cooperation between National People’s Congress and the Parliament of Pakistan.

Chinese Premier hosts luncheon in honor of PM Shehbaz


Chinese Premier Li Qiang hosted a grand luncheon in honor of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in Beijing today.

On his arrival at the venue, the Prime Minister was cordially greeted by the Chinese premier. The Chinese army band started playing the tunes of Pakistani national songs.

The welcome was imbued with gestures of friendly warmth and fraternity.

The tunes of “Dil Dil Pakistan”, “Dil Se Maine Dekha Pakistan”, “Main Bhi Pakistan Hoon” and “Jeeve Jeeve Pakistan” created a whole ambience of Pak-China friendship at the event.

Shehbaz Sharif and the Chinese premier applauded the musical band with smiles and applause.

The members of Pakistani delegation at the lunch also gave a huge round of applause to the band.

Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif thanked Li Qiang for his fraternal feelings and warm hospitality.

He said China is a great and trustworthy brother of Pakistan and every Pakistani is proud of China’s development.

Shehbaz Sharif said China’s passion, hard work and
commitment is an inspiration for us.
