Air Chief Reaffirms Commitment to Strengthen Military Ties with South Africa


Islamabad: A high-level defense delegation from South Africa, led by Acting Secretary of Defense Dr. Thobekile Gamede, met with Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu in Islamabad today. The meeting focused on enhancing military cooperation between Pakistan and South Africa.



According to Radio Pakistan, Air Chief Marshal Sidhu expressed the Pakistan Air Force’s dedication to fostering collaboration with the South African Air Force, particularly in military-to-military cooperation and training. Dr. Gamede praised the professionalism and achievements of the Pakistan Air Force, acknowledging its progress in indigenization and technological advancements. She expressed interest in partnering with PAF for modernization and maintenance of essential equipment.



Dr. Gamede conveyed South Africa’s interest in strengthening the existing cooperation between the two air forces. This includes plans to enhance training setups from basic to tactical levels across various warfare domains. The South African delegation also expressed intentions to upgrade their Air Force and develop an industrial setup in line with the National Aerospace Science and Technology Park, led by PAF.



The visit by South Africa’s Acting Secretary of Defense to Air Headquarters in Islamabad underscores the mutual commitment of both nations to further expand their military partnership through ongoing dialogue and collaboration.
