Islamabad: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz has assured to take steps for the welfare and facilitation of overseas Pakistanis. Addressing the 1st Overseas Pakistanis Convention in Islamabad, he emphasized that there should be strict punishment for those who grab the land of overseas Pakistanis. He mentioned that legislation in this regard can be enacted after consultations within the relevant ministries. He added that the provincial governments will also be contacted on the matter.
According to Radio Pakistan, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq highlighted that overseas Pakistanis are the country’s ambassadors and are excelling in various fields. He pointed out that the remittances sent by expatriates play a critical role in strengthening the economy. He suggested the development of online platforms to eliminate the need for Pakistani expatriates to visit the embassies.
Pakistan’s envoys from different countries also addressed the convention. Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Chaudhry Salik Hussain, addressing the convention, praised the role of overseas Pakistanis in their contribution to the country’s economic strength. He noted that record remittances worth four point one billion dollars were sent by overseas Pakistanis in one month.
