President asks Banking Mohtasib to take up matter of banking frauds with SBP


President Dr Arif Alvi has asked the Banking Mohtasib to take up the matter of banking frauds with the State Bank of Pakistan to issue essential SOPs.

The President issued these directions while rejecting two separate representations filed by the United Bank Ltd and Bank Alfalah Ltd directing the banks to compensate their customers who fell victim to online banking fraud at the hands of fraudsters.

Govt determined to protect rights of journalists: Caretaker Punjab CM


Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi says the caretaker government is determined to protect the rights of journalists.

Talking to newsmen in Lahore today, he said that we are implementing long term projects for the welfare of journalists.

He informed that plots of three and seven marlas will be given to journalists and eligible journalists will submit applications until January 28.

He added that applications will be received from this Monday and the incumbent caretaker government will try to conduct balloting before February 8.

Pakistan committed to overcome global challenges: Haider


Pakistan has underlined that the current multi-dimensional global challenges can only be overcome through effective international collaboration.

While delivering Pakistan’s national statement at the 19th Non-aligned Movement Summit in Kampala, Uganda Additional Foreign Secretary (United Nations) Ambassador Syed Haider Shah outlined Pakistan’s firm commitment to the Non-aligned Movement and its founding principles and its continued support to the Movement’s efforts towards peace, equality, cooperation and well-being for all.

He called for urgent action to reform the systems of finance, trade, and technology to ensure balanced and sustained socio-economic growth, particularly in the developing countries.

Additional Foreign Secretary also called for an early resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

ter Jalil Abbas Jilani had to cut short his official visit in view of recent developments.

Ambassador Haider Shah, Ugandan PM discuss bilateral ties


Pakistan’s head of delegation Ambassador Syed Haider Shah called on Prime Minister of Uganda, Nabbanja Robinah, at Manyonyo Resort near Kampala on the margins of the Non-Aligned Movement Summit.

This was stated by Pakistan High Commissioner to Uganda Muhammad Hassan Wazir in a post on his official X account.

They discussed matters of mutual interest between Pakistan and Uganda including the bilateral trade.
