WB approves $46m for child healthcare in KP

The World Bank has approved forty-six million dollars for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa health department to promote access to child health services in selected districts of the province.

The funds will be used for the Citizen Centered Service Delivery Project of the provincial government.

The child welfare grants will benefit about three-hundred thousand children under the age of two.

The families of these children will receive an amount of twelve-thousand five-hundred rupees over five visits for attending the health awareness sessions and growth monitoring of their child.

Pakistan Navy continues rescue, relief operation at cyclone affected areas of Sindh

Pakistan Navy continued wide scale Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief Operations in coastal areas of Sindh.

According to press release issued by Pakistan Navy, Pakistan Navy Emergency Response Teams in coordination with local administration continued evacuation of personnel from various areas and provided relief goods to aggrieved populace.

Pakistan Navy troops evacuated over 800 inhabitants from various coastal areas of Keti Bandar, Kharo Chan, Shah Bandar, Baghan, Sujawal, Chuhar Jamali and Jati City.

Moreover, medical camp was held at Keti Bandar by Sindh government health department in coordination with World Health Organization (WHO). WHO’s Country head of Pakistan, Dr. Palitha Mahi Pala from Sri Lanka, also visited and monitored health care activities. Around 230 people were treated in the medical camp and were also provided with mosquito nets.

Pakistan Navy’s medical teams are providing healthcare facilities to affectees at shelter camps while patrolling of PN ships and Emergency Response Teams in the Sea and affected areas continue to promptly respond to distress calls.

Pakistan Navy’s Emergency Response Teams are poised and remain ready to provide rescue and relief assistance as the cyclone makes landfall off the Sindh coast.

Radio Pakistan to establish new Health Channel in collaboration with private sector

Radio Pakistan will soon establish a new Health Channel in collaboration with private sector to apprise the patients about healthcare facilities in the country.

It was decided at a meeting between Director General Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation Muhammad Tahir Hassan and CEO Islamabad Medical and Dental College Yasir Khan Niazi in Islamabad today.

During the meeting, it was agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between Radio Pakistan and Islamabad Medical and Dental College for collaboration to take initiatives for creating awareness among the masses about healthcare facilities.

On this occasion, the CEO of the College visited different studios of Radio Pakistan including Planet FM-87.6 Channel.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has made elaborate measures to protect the possible outbreak of Congo Virus in the Province.

Senior Veterinary Officer of Livestock and Dairy Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Dr. Sher Muhammad told Radio Pakistan Peshawar Correspondent Matiullah on Tuesday, that on the special directives of Director General Livestock department, Special Check posts have been setup on all the entry and exit points of merged districts.

Death anniversary of Rasool Bux Palijo observed

5th death anniversary of scholar and Writer Rasool Bux Palijo was observed on Wednesday.

He authored more than 40 books on numerous subjects, 26 of them were in the Sindhi language, on topics of literature politics, prison dairies, culture and poetry.

Rasool Bux Palejo was an active member of Sindh Adabi Sanghat and holds the credit of introducing literary festivals in the rural areas of Sindh.

Deadly Brain-Eating Amoeba Attacks Karachi Residents

Sharjeel Inam Memon, Sindh’s Information Minister, has urged Karachi’s residents to protect themselves from Naegleria fowleri or the brain-eating amoeba. This deadly waterborne amoeba is rare but can be found in freshwater sources. Memon made this announcement during a press conference in the city.

Memon stressed the importance of avoiding swimming in pools that are not properly chlorinated and recommended that people avoid activities that could cause water to enter their noses.

Memon also mentioned that the provincial health department is working on an awareness campaign to inform the public about the dangers of Naegleria disease.

This warning comes after three people in Karachi died last month from a fatal brain infection caused by Naegleria fowleri, also known as the ‘brain-eating amoeba.’

With the arrival of hot summer weather, naegleria has started to claim lives, highlighting the need for stronger action from authorities. The amoeba is able to thrive due to inadequate chlorination in many parts of the city.

Chlorination is essential to kill the amoeba and prevent this deadly disease. Another way is to use boiled water when cleaning the nose, as the amoeba enters through the nasal cavity and attacks the brain.

Qatar Airways Made Emergency Landing In Pakistan’s Karachi For Pregnant Woman

Qatar Airways made an emergency landing, at an airport in Pakistan’s port city, Karachi, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) of Pakistan said, yesterday.

The CAA said in a statement that, the landing was carried out late Monday night, at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport, after a Filipino pregnant woman suffered pain during the flight.

The woman was given first aid on the flight, the CAA said, adding that, a doctor and an ambulance were present when the plane landed, while the child was born by that time.

The woman and her child were shifted to a local hospital, and the flight departed in a couple of hours, early yesterday morning, the statement said.

The flight was going from Doha to Manila, according to the CAA

Ministry of Religious Affairs has made adequate and satisfactory arrangements for the provision of healthy, fresh and hygienic meal to Hujjaj in Makkah and Madinah.

Talking to APP, Ministry official Faiz Umar Sial said nine catering companies are providing quality food thrice a day whereas food samples undergo meticulous analysis by experts.

He said catering companies face heavy fines if they fail to provide healthy nourishment to Hujjaj.
