Sindh, Georgia set to establish sister state-province relations

The US State of Georgia and Pakistan’s Sindh Province are set to establish sister state-province relations under a resolution passed by Georgia’s legislature.

The Resolution, introduced by State Representative Farooq Mughal, a Democratic Party leader of Pakistani origin, states that a sister-state relationship between the State of Georgia and the Province of Sindh would promote mutual trade and commerce and increase the potential for educational, environmental, and cultural relations between the two entities.

Georgia is the 24th-largest in area and 8th most populous of the 50 United States.

Imran Khan used common citizens as human shields against state institutions: Saad

Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique has said that the courts summoned PTI Chairman Imran Khan several times but he did not obey the court orders.

Addressing a press conference in Lahore on Friday, the Minister said Imran Khan used common citizens as human shields against the state institutions and he promoted pressure group politics in the country.

He said the action is being taken against the PTI chairman in accordance with law and the non-bailable arrest warrants were issued because he failed to appear before the courts.

He said the PML-N fought for supremacy of the constitution.

Khawaja Saad Rafique said Gilgit-Baltistan police played an illegal role in Lahore.

Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi says the law will take its course against law violators.

During a visit to Services Hospital in Lahore on Wednesday, he inquired after the health of police personnel and officials who were injured due to stone pelting of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf workers.

Elections for KP assembly to be held on 28th May: Governor

Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Haji Ghulam Ali has said elections for the provincial assembly will be held on 28th May this year.

Talking to the media outside the Election Commission of Pakistan in Islamabad this afternoon, he said we have fulfilled the constitutional requirement by conveying the ECP of the election date in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He said we were concerned about deteriorating law and order situation and other matters, including the ongoing population census and delimitation of constituencies in light of the findings of the fresh head counts of the population.

The Governor said we have given the election date for the provincial assembly and now it is responsibility of the commission and other concerned to hold elections in the province in a peaceful and transparent manner.

Buddhist spiritual leaders laud KP govt for preserving Buddhist sacred sites

A delegation of Buddhist spiritual leaders from the Republic of Kalmykia, Russia has appreciated the efforts made by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government in preservation and promotion of Buddhist sacred sites across the province.

During a meeting with provincial government officials in Peshawar on Monday, the Buddhist delegation led by its spiritual leader Telo Talku Rinpoche shared his gratitude towards the government and showed keen interest in the Integrated Tourism Zones Concept.

Telo Talku Rinpoche emphasized promoting interfaith harmony and mutual cooperation in promoting religious tourism.

Process of filing nomination papers for election of Punjab Assembly starts

The process of filing nomination papers for election of Punjab Assembly started on Sunday.

The candidates can file their nomination papers with Returning Officers till Tuesday.

The names of nominated candidates will be published on Wednesday while scrutiny of nomination papers will continue till 22nd of this month.

Appeals can be filed against rejection or acceptance of nominations papers till 27th of this month.

The Appellate Tribunal will decide the appeals till 3rd of next month, while revised list of candidates will be published on the next day.

Candidates may withdraw their papers on 5th of next month while the final revised list of candidates will be published on the same day.

Election symbols will be allotted to the contesting candidates on 6th of next month while polling will be held on 30th of next month.

KP: By-elections on three NA seats on April 30

The Election Commission of Pakistan has announced to hold by-elections for three constituencies of the National Assembly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on April 30.

These constituencies include NA-22 Mardan, NA -24 Charsadda and NA-31 Peshawar.

According to the schedule, nomination papers can be submitted from Sunday to Tuesday.

The revised list of candidates will be published on 4 April. Nomination papers can be withdrawn till 5 April. On 6 April, 2023, the final list of candidates will be released and they will be allotted election symbols, while polling will be held on 30th of next month.
