Conjunctivitis: Schools in Punjab to remain closed till Sunday

Punjab Schools Education Department has announced to close all public and private schools of the province till Sunday in the wake of increasing cases of conjunctivitis disease.

This decision has been taken to protect children from the conjunctivitis epidemic.

According to a notification all schools will reopen from Monday and observe SOPs issued by the school education department to prevent the inflammation infection.

Meanwhile, Punjab government has also established a helpline 1033 for the conjunctivitis patients.

In a statement caretaker Minister for Primary and Secondary Health Care, Dr Jamal Nasir said the conjunctivitis patients can access helpline for treatment related queries and guidance.

He said eye surgeons at government hospitals across the province have been instructed to be alert and an abundant quantity of eye drops has been provided in all hospitals.

Dr Jamal Nasir said special arrangements have been made to treat conjunctivitis patients at Holy Family Hospital Rawalpindi, Mayo Hospital Lahore and Nishtar Hospital Multan.
