Islamabad: Chief Justice Federal Constitutional Court Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan emphasized the supremacy of the Constitution and the necessity for every exercise of public authority to remain within its constitutional boundaries. He made these remarks during the Commencement Ceremony of the New Judicial Year held in Islamabad.
According to Radio Pakistan, Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan highlighted the judiciary's duty to protect and uphold the Constitution while respecting the domains ensured to other constitutional institutions. He dismissed the idea that the separation of powers is an obstacle, instead advocating for easier access to justice. Justice Khan stressed the importance of strengthening public confidence and ensuring that access to the apex constitutional institution is not hindered by geographical barriers.
The Chief Justice pointed out the establishment of broad registries across all four provinces of Pakistan to address geographical challenges. He noted that the court has developed essential judicial and administrative infrastructure, along with a modern information technology directive, to meet the requirements of contemporary constitutional institutions. Justice Khan emphasized the need to build an institution while fulfilling judicial responsibilities as mandated by the Constitution.
Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan stated that institutions are built through the commitment and discipline of people, and they grow through collective sacrifices and devotion to a purpose larger than individual convenience. Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan also spoke at the event, acknowledging the Court's ambition to set its own objectives publicly, rather than relying on external direction.
