Dar Calls for Strengthening Partnership Between OIC and UN to Promote Global Peace

New york: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has called for strengthening the partnership between the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the United Nations (UN) to foster a culture of peace and tolerance amidst global conflicts.

According to Radio Pakistan, Dar made these remarks while speaking at an OIC High-Level Event on Peace and Tolerance in New York, commemorating the 1500th anniversary of the birth of Holy Prophet Hazrat Mohammad (Peace Be Upon Him). He emphasized that the partnership should focus on promoting interfaith and intercultural dialogue, safeguarding sacred sites and religious symbols, and combating terrorism and violent extremism in all its forms.

Dar also underscored the importance of mobilizing humanitarian support through mechanisms such as Zakat and Waqf. He advocated for empowering women and youth through education, science, and technology, and encouraged their active engagement in peacebuilding efforts.

The Deputy Prime Minister referred to the universal relevance of the legacy of the Holy Prophet Hazrat Mohammad (Peace Be Upon Him), highlighting the Charter of Medina as an enduring example of pluralism and interfaith relations based on mutual respect and understanding.

He further highlighted the transformative impact of the philosophy of the Holy Prophet, underscoring how his teachings, anchored in justice, tolerance, and peace, resonate deeply with the principles and purposes of the UN Charter.
