12th death anniversary of renowned Pakistani Urdu prose writer Hajra Masroor was observed today.
She was born on January 17, 1930 in Lacknow.
Hajra Masroor is the sister of renowned writer Khadija Masroor.
After independence of Pakistan in 1947, she migrated to the new country and settled in Lahore.
Hajra Masroor wrote several books of short stories in which she raised the issue of social, political, legal, and economic rights for women.
Chand ke dosri taraf, Tesri manzil and Andhere Ujale are her famous short stories.
She received several awards including Pride of Performance for best writer in 1995 and Aalmi Frogh-e-Urdu Adab Award.
Hajra Masroor died on this day in 2012 in Karachi.
