Defense experts call for reviving spirit of 1965 war to address prevailing challenges

Defense experts have underlined the need for reviving spirit of 1965 war to cope with internal and external threats being faced by the country.

They expressed these views while speaking in a Special Program of Radio Pakistan’s News and Current Affairs Channel in connection with the Defense and Martyrs’ Day observed across the country today (Tuesday).

They said that Pakistan’s armed forces, law enforcement agencies and civil and military institutions are on the same page to protect Pakistan’s security and defeat any misadventure by the enemy.

Taking part in the discussion, Pakistan Army’s Captain Eman Durrani said day of 6th September reminds us that unity among the ranks of Pakistan Army and nation is vital to defeat the nefarious designs of enemy. She said that Pakistan Army always stood for its people in all testing times whether it is a flood, a hurricane or an earthquake. Talking about India, she said New Delhi is making negative attempts to defame Pakistan through cyber warfare, and there is a need that international media should play its role in this regard.

About ongoing rescue and relief operation in flood-affected areas of Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, she said affected population is being shifted to medical camps by troops of Pakistan Army where all kinds of facilities are being extended to them. Captain Eman Durrani also sought support of the nation in successful completion of rescue and relief phase following deadly rains and floods across the country.

In his remarks, 1965 War Hero Colonel, Retired, Asif Malik said that 6th September is an important day in the country’s history when the enemy invaded our territory by violating international laws, but our forces and the nation repelled the enemy with full force. He said Pakistan is proud of its armed forces, and law enforcement agencies in guarding the physical frontiers and security of the country. He said there is no power on earth that can undue Pakistan.

Taking part in the discussion, Defense Analyst Lieutenant General, retired, Raza Muhammad Khan said 6th September is the day of making pledge that we will leave no stone unturned to safeguard and defense country’s security. He also underlined the need for implementing golden principles of “Unity, Faith and Discipline” advocated by Father of the Nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in letter and spirit.

In his comments, former Defense Secretary, Lieutenant General, Retired, Asif Yaseen Malik said he was among the people, who witnessed the events on this day in 1965, saying the resolve and determination of the people to defend the territorial integrity of their motherland was unmatched at that time. He urged the nation to get united and support the armed forces in addressing all prevailing challenges being faced by the country.

Speaking on the occasion, Admiral, Retired, Izhar-ul-Hassan Naqvi said on this day in 1965, Pakistan responded to India with full force despite limited resources and weapons.
