DPM Directs Authorities to Ensure Transparency in Wheat Import Process

Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has directed the authorities concerned to ensure that the entire process of wheat import is undertaken with full transparency and in close coordination with all provinces. He issued these directives while presiding over a meeting of the steering committee on the import of wheat in Islamabad today.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Deputy Prime Minister assured that the Government remains committed to supporting the provinces in ensuring stable prices and an adequate supply of essential commodities, including wheat. Ishaq Dar took stock of the requirements for wheat imports, which have been communicated by all provinces, and the Trading Corporation of Pakistan was tasked with initiating the necessary preparations for the import of one million metric tons of wheat.

The meeting was attended by the Ministers for National Food Security and Research and Economic Affairs, SAPM Tariq Bajwa, Coordinator to the PM on Food Security, Secretaries of MNFSR and Commerce, and representatives of the Governments of Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
