DPM Vows to Eradicate Polio from Country

Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has reaffirmed the government's commitment to eradicating polio from the country. He expressed these views during a meeting with a delegation of the Polio Oversight Board (POB) that called on him in Islamabad today, led by its Chair from Rotary International, Mike McGovern.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Deputy Prime Minister appreciated the Board's continued support for Pakistan's polio eradication efforts and underscored the government's resolve to achieve a polio-free Pakistan through sustained political resolve and close collaboration with international partners. The delegation commended Pakistan's diplomacy in promoting regional peace and its role in addressing global humanitarian issues.

Chairperson of the National Commission for Rights of the Child (NCRC) and head of the Pakistan Polio Programme, Ayesha Raza Farooq, along with senior officials from relevant ministries, also attended the meeting. The delegation included senior representatives from the Gates Foundation, WHO, Gavi, UNICEF, KSrelief, and the CDC.
