Rawalpindi: The funeral prayer of Major Hamza Israr Shaheed, who embraced martyrdom while defending the motherland in Mir Ali, was offered at the Chaklala Garrison in Rawalpindi today.
According to Radio Pakistan, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, along with Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir attended the funeral. A large number of seniors, including serving and retired military officers, soldiers, and the bereaved family members of the fallen hero also paid their respects.
While honoring the sacrifices of Pakistan’s martyrs, the Prime Minister reaffirmed the nation’s commitment to eradicate terrorism from the country. He emphasized that such sacrifices strengthen national resolve and reinforce the collective faith in ensuring a peaceful and secure Pakistan for future generations. Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif further declared that the entire nation stands in solidarity with the Armed Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies in their fight against terrorism.
Following the funeral rites, the mortal remains of Shaheed Major Hamza Israr were transported to his native hometown, where he will be laid to rest with full military honors. It is pertinent to mention that Major Hamza Israr and Sepoy Muhammad Naeem had embraced martyrdom during an intelligence-based operation in the Mir Ali area of North Waziristan. Six Khwarij were also neutralized during the intense exchange of fire.
