Govt Committed to Enhancing Investment Climate in Energy Sector: Awais


Islamabad: A delegation of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), led by Linda Rudo Munyengeterwa, met with Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari in Islamabad on Monday. The meeting focused on encouraging private investment in the energy sector through Public Private Partnership models.



According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister acknowledged the IFC’s role in introducing modern technology for investment in the energy sector. He highlighted that the primary challenges are demand and pricing, and expressed gratitude for the IFC’s support in finding sustainable solutions. He emphasized the government’s commitment to creating a favorable environment for investors.



The IFC showed interest in supporting the Power Division’s digital meterization policy and offered assistance in policy formulation and necessary reforms. The delegation shared successful models from Brazil, Peru, Colombia, and India, which have seen increased investment, integration of renewable energy, and open access. They stressed the importance of learning from international experiences to develop an effective strategy for Pakistan.



Both parties agreed to enhance cooperation in the future, with plans to implement joint efforts in various energy projects. The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to further collaboration for the development of Pakistan’s energy sector.
